At the foot of the Andean mountains in Peru, in one of the most arid deserts in the world, the fabulous vestiges of long gone civilizations are progressively emerging. In the Nazca valley, imposing pyramids are surfacing again from the sand, as well as close to a thousand colossal figures etched into the desert floor and hundreds of strangely deformed or pierced exhumed skulls. To this day, these mysterious skulls and fascinating geoglyphs drawn on the desert floor remain one of the biggest enigmas of archeology in terms of number, nature, size and continuity. Whom did these 2,000 year-old skulls belong to? Whom were those gigantic figures that are only visible from the sky meant for? Thanks to progress in technology and to the findings of the investigating French, Peruvian, Italian, and American archeologists the film will help us shed a little light on the mystery that still shrouds this strange and puzzling world, shaped by the ancient Nazca and Paracas civilizations.
