National Cancer Control Plans in Action: Setting actionable and effective cancer plans for impact
Information
National Cancer Control Plans (NCCP) establish the goals, strategies and activities that a country can implement to reduce its cancer burden. A comprehensive cancer plan is a prerequisite for effective and efficient action on cancer nationally. However, there are significant discrepancies among countries with respect to development and implementation of NCCPs. Two main reasons for this are lack of political will and underfunding. These challenges act as barriers to effective NCCP formulation as well as integration of national cancer plans with UHC plans. How can policy and legislation work effectively together to improve NCCP formulation, implementation, and impact?
This 60-minute roundtable discussion will engage Leaders in a dialogue around best practices, learnings and opportunities to formulate laws and policies and mobilise funding for effective cancer prevention and control. This preliminary discussion will inform further research and the development of policy briefs and calls to action, focused on legal and policy elements of NCCPs to improve performance and accountability.
