Barolo DOCG del Comune di Barolo 2014

Barolo DOCG del Comune di Barolo 2014

Italian Docg wines

Information

GRAPE VARIETY: 100% Nebbiolo This Barolo is the family’s signature wine: the grapes come exclusively from the estate’s “Historical Crus” vineyards, located in the municipality of Barolo on sloping hills which are all walking distance far. The town of Barolo, which gave its name to the “King of Wines”, rises in the heart of the Langhe area and its name “low-raised place”, because it is surrounded by the higher hills of the other 10 villages on the production zone that protects it from the severe weather and excessive wind. The peculiar location grants indeed a special microclimate and is connoted by a unique soil composition. Barolo commune sits in fact on the crossover line between Tortonian and Serravallian soils. Each vineyard that contributes to Barolo del Comune di Barolo is composed therefore by sensibly different soils and is vinified on its own. Later is then blended into this unique expression on Barolo, harmonious and well-balanced, that ages in small oak barrels first and then in traditional big Slavonian oak barrels for a total of two years ageing in wood. Tasting Notes & Food Match: intense and persistent with distinct traces of spices, cinnamon, pepper, licorice, and tobacco. The taste is full and elegant, with soft tannins. The spicy note and the hints of wood blend perfectly. This wine is well matched with traditional tagliatelle with ragout, red meat and game.
