Consorzio Vini Alto Adige

Consorzio Vini Alto Adige

Information

Alto Adige is one of the smallest winegrowing areas in all of Italy, but thanks to its geographical position, it is also one of the most varied: some five thousand winegrowers are divided over a grape-growing area of a little more than 5,500 hectares, distributed throughout the most disparate climatic zones on different soils and at elevations that vary between 200 and more than 1,000 meters above sea level. Extremely differentiated terroir means that many different grapevines find their ideal growing conditions. Alto Adige has a natural vocation for producing wine that dates back over millennia. One only needs to think that it is one of the most ancient winegrowing zones in all of Europe. The fact that these excellent wines are appreciated throughout the entire world depends upon some of the values that are inherent to both the DNA and this territory. A coherent community, composed of people who improve quality with passion and commitment. Independent grapegrowers">Independent grapegrowers, cooperatives, estate wineries">estate wineries, who for decades have been achieving tremendous results thanks in no small part to the contribution, which has always been protected and safeguarded, that is made by small structures that are family-run. Together, although with each leaving their own mark, they follow the declared objective of protecting nature, maintaining traditions, safeguarding the territory which is understood as a factor of identity and common heritage, and looking to the future with a perspective of environmental sustainability for future generations. Since 2007, the Consortium of Alto Adige Wines is the point of reference for all of the protagonists who are connected with the production of wine in the area, representing the display case of Alto Adige wines at the local, national, and international level.
