West Africa Experience
Services
Information
Since 2006, Aurum Exploration has been active in West Africa. This has varied from desktop studies in sediment-hosted copper systems, performing exploration for unconformity-type uranium (Mauritania), drilling for orogenic gold systems (Ghana, Mali, Cote d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso), or performing resource definition drilling on iron ore deposits (Ghana). Most of the recent work has concentrated on orogenic gold systems in the Proterozoic Birimian sequence.
Birimian Focus
Aurum-Kangari have worked in a number of countries in West Africa that are underlain by Archean and Proterozoic rocks. These include: Ghana, Mali, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Côte’ d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, and Mauritania. The team are familiar with the large number of orogenic gold deposit styles that are present, ranging from sediment-hosted systems to granite-hosted ones. Client work ranges from numerous due diligence data appraisals and site visits, to running multi-drill exploration and resource definition drilling programs, and performing resource estimations.
We pride ourselves in our knowledge transfer to local geologists, which can be through structured training such as workshops, or mentoring staff at any stage of a project.
