he regional Neuroscience service at Kings serves a population of 3.8 million and has an international reputation for motor neurone disease, movement and neuromuscular disorder and epilepsy surgery. Providing a wide range of expert clinical services for both regional and local patients, the service is continually expanding and developing, offering new and exciting career options for nursing. The service comprises of: 3 Neurosurgical wards (David Marsden, Kinnier Wilson Unit and Murray Falconer ward with integrated telemetry) Neurology (Charles Polkey Ward) Friends Stroke Unit Frank Cooksey Neuro-Rehabilitation Unit and Ontario Ward (located at Orpington Hospital) We have an exciting opportunity on the above ward which is a 20 bed emergency Neurosurgical ward for experienced Neuroscience nurses. As a band 6 nurse you will be expected to focus on the clinical leadership of the nursing team, actively supporting the Ward Manager in further developing the service and delivering a high standard of patient focused care. You will be enthusiastic and motivated with demonstrable clinical experience relevant to the area. An appropriate post registration qualification and previous experience of leading a team is desirable but not essential. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential as is a relevant teaching qualification or equivalent experience.
