CENMAC – Assistive Technology in EducationCENMAC is a unique, London-based support service offering assessments, reviews and loan of equipment to help pupils with a disability access the curriculum, communicate and learn using assistive technology.
That technology may include accessibility for those with:
physical disabilities or mobility difficulties.
speech difficulties, including non-verbal pupils.
difficulties with memory, organisation or planning.
dyslexia or difficulties with literacy.
other sensory needs.
We provide a range of equipment for loan, ranging from computer switches, iPads/tablets and laptops with specific apps and software, adaptive mice and keyboards, touch screens, eye gaze, speech-to-text and voice control. The devices can be changed or upgraded as the pupils get older or their physical condition changes.
The hardware and software that we use are always those which best fit the individual, as we aim to provide a person-centred approach.
Referrals
A number of London Local Authorities buy into our services so referrals can either be made directly from the school or through the local authority. We also have a number of packages for individuals, schools or organisations to purchase directly from us.
