Avanti Fellows (India)

Avanti has deep domain expertise in secondary school education. We pioneered self-directed “peer-learning” in public schools in India. Our core intervention in classrooms reaches over 50,000 students each year. It focuses on allowing students to teach themselves in structured learning groups with the help of pre-prepared lesson plans and video content. In a recently published Randomized Controlled Trial in Chennai Municipal Corporation Schools, Avanti’s intervention was shown to result in a 0.6SD shift in learning outcomes over a single year.

Avanti runs among India’s most popular YouTube channels for curriculum-focused Hindi language content. Our channels Avanti Gurukul and Avanti Sankalp have over 500k subscribers and over 2M unique monthly viewers. We have a decade’s worth of experience creating and delivering video content both online and in classrooms.

In 2020, Avanti is collaborating with state governments in Haryana, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, and Madhya Pradesh in India to lead their response to the COVID-19 lockdown via the Ghar Pe School initiative. We currently coordinate online learning for over 800k students every day - the largest such implementation in the country.
