FutureScape: AI-Powered Simulation for Massive-Scale Systems:
As the world becomes more dense and interconnected, it is becoming more difficult to understand complex, real-world systems—much less predict how they will behave. We’re helping solve this challenge by bringing together artificial intelligence, machine learning, and cloud computing in a powerful new simulation platform, called FutureScape.
FutureScape, Deloitte’s patented simulation platform, makes it possible to model complex, real-world systems and test ways to improve them. Our mission is to run high-fidelity, agent-based simulations without compromising speed or scale.
Our clients are using FutureScape to understand the complex systems their organizations rely on, such as transportation networks, financial markets, and global supply chains. We’re helping our customers find ways to improve their systems by simulating new business models and disruptions and answering strategic “what if” questions.
FutureScape in Action: Simulating a City Transportation Ecosystem:
City transportation networks are rapidly changing. Ride-hailing services and micromobility options have made the ecosystem more complex, and new technology such as autonomous vehicles are posed to transform how people move through cities.
Cities are looking for ways to understand this complex ecosystem, but simulating a transportation network—including the decisions of millions of people across multiple mode choices—is generally too complex for a single computer. FutureScape offers a new way to run high-fidelity simulations without compromising speed or scale.
We’ve used FutureScape to test one city’s strategies to reduce congestion and greenhouse gas emissions. We built a digital twin of the region—3M+ residents, 18 cities, 6,000 sq mi, and all modes of transit—and simulated the strategies to understand their impact. FutureScape offered a new way for the city to prioritize the strategies that were effective at achie
