Taoyuan City Government

Taoyuan City is a transportation hub that connects Taiwan to the world, the youngest city among the 6 metropolises in Taiwan, and also an important location of industrial and economic development.

Since 2014, we have connected the strengths of municipal bureaus and formulated the “Taoyuan City Low-Carbon Green City Development Self-Governance Ordinance”. We had also proposed and implemented the greenhouse gas mitigation and adaptation initiatives. The mitigation initiatives include promotion of renewable energy, sustainable transportation and energy-efficient production in the manufacturing sector; on the other hand, the adaptation initiatives encompass public awareness regarding climate change, enhance communities’ ability to adapt to extreme weather, monitor the water flow information in the city and so on.

This year the world is facing the unprecedented coronavirus pandemic, which has constituted an enormous challenge for all levels of government across the world from the perspective of sustainable development and governance. Despite the impact the pandemic has brought about, Taoyuan City Government is still moving forward in implementing low-carbon initiatives and developing a low-carbon economy.
