Oral Presentation

Information

Information, Communication, Transportation, Entertainment Technology has had a major transformative impact on those industries. It only makes sense that technology would eventually impact clinical research. Was it a forced evolution due to the Pandemic of 2020? Was it the push this slow moving industry needed?  This presentation will focus on how advances in technology and clinical research are the catalyst for the transformation of CDM to CDS. We will discuss study designs, types and different methods of data collection, the increasing volume of data being collected and how this is shaping the important role of the CDS.  We will also cover tools – specifically data analytics, data warehouses and workbenches. Finally, we will hear from a Clinical Data scientist and how his/her role and responsibilities have changed and what they envision for the future.

Learning Objectives
- To understand the history of data cleaning in the past 20 years. - To understand and explain why the cleaning of clinical trial data has become more difficult in recent years. - Understand how technology is changing the way we clean data and creating better efficiencies. - Describe one method that has improved data cleaning particularly in reference to external data sources.
