Follow this link to learn more: https://www.sensoryintegrationeducation.com/courses/(G97)-Eating-Disorders-Sensory-Informed-Practice--Live-on-18-July-2024 The aim of this webinar is to empower professionals with sensory integration training to understand what they are able to offer to the assessment and treatment of patients presenting with an eating disorder. We will consider a range of eating disorders and how they may be impacted by sensory integration difficulties. Clinical practice and research evidence will be discussed in relation to the impact of sensory integration on the development and maintenance of an eating disorder, such as Anorexia Nervosa or Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) and vice versa. Additional contributing factors relating to commonly co-occurring conditions such as Autism, ADHD and anxiety will also be explored. We will also reflect on how trauma may also impact individuals sensory integration and motivation for treatment. Using case study examples from professional practice, the cycle of assessment, intervention and review will be examined. This will include suggestions of standardised and non-standardised assessments that can be used to develop an understanding of the interaction between the eating disorder and SI difficulties, developing hypotheses and treatment options. Recommendations for interventions and outcome measurement will be analysed, including the relevance of the treatment setting and people involved.
