Information
CPD is a top priority. We’ve a specialised preceptorship programme designed for our newly qualified OTs, plus tailored preceptorship programmes, such as "An Introduction to Sensory Integration," to prepare our therapists for formal training. There’s also opportunities to explore the various service lines within the company. Each line has a dedicated Clinical Lead OT who has honed their specialised knowledge and skills in their respective areas. The Clinical Leads conduct bi-monthly meetings with all OTs in the field to develop innovative and evidence-based care pathways and each therapist has access to a wide range of approved interventions, agreed assessment tools, and training packages for delivery to other disciplines. We also have a dedicated Director of Clinical Education who oversees a team of student coordinators, allowing us to actively engage with over 34 universities. This ensures a consistent flow of student placements across all our services and contributes to the recruitment of newly-qualified therapists, as well as the continuous development of our staff through exposure to the latest OT strategies and practices. Our CPD programme runs annually and provides external training from renowned experts in fields such as MOHO-based courses, sensory integration, sensory modulation, VdTMOCA, and others. By tailoring our jobs in line with the 4 pillars of practice in RCOT’s Career Development Framework, we readily identify the CPD needs of our teams. Additionally, leadership & management training for OTs is an essential component of CPD that we address. Cygnet offers a range of apprenticeship programmes that support staff in obtaining qualifications in this area of practice. We encourage all our OTs to contribute to RCOT’s specialist sections and publish in ‘’OT News’’ where they share their experiences and innovative practices. Many of our OTs become peer reviewers for the RC Psych accreditation groups and serve on RCOT’s regional and specialist section boards.
