Information

Port of Oulu is providing modern digital services and competitive advantages for port stakeholders and exporting companies in Northern Finland. A natural outcome of this digitalization effort is to build a highly visual, real-time digital twin where data from various sources can be visualized, analysed, accessed and shared among the port ecosystem stakeholders. For example, a digital twin provides a real-time overview of what is happening in the port premises at a given time. In a typical port setting, a digital twin may offer advantages such as enabling stevedoring operators, subcontractors, and agencys to plan, communicate and analyze their operations with the port management. The port management team may plan building and construction projects using the digital twin, and test out various options before committing to expensive planning and contracting phases. Digital twins allow analysis of port operations to identify processes that could be optimized for increased efficiency or security and have a positive impact on sustainability. Logistics coming to port can benefit from a digital system that instructs them to take a certain optimized route safely to reach their destination to pick up containers.
