Renewable energy is the key to the energy transition, particularly if deployed on a massive scale thanks to technological innovation. But to achieve this goal, we need to step up progress on energy storage and smart grids. Green hydrogen is a major driver towards decarbonisation, even in the most difficult sectors. Energy sharing models are needed to create exchange systems with a self-consumption approach. At the same time, there is a debate on the use of a controversial and divisive energy source: nuclear power. Some European countries are considering this source as a valid transition strategy. Can it be considered a new frontier of energy sources for decarbonisation? Concrete projects, hypotheses and future scenarios: the debate is on.
