Information
Cultural Industries Ontario North (CION) is a not-for-profit dedicated to promoting Northern Ontario’s vibrant film industry. We empower creatives by offering project, funding, and resource consultations that help Northern production thrive.
CION staff is experienced in all stages of production and versed in the advantages Northern Ontario offers. Our free consultations facilitate the exploration and engagement of locations, infrastructure, skilled crew, and financial incentives that amplify storytelling.
Through our Film & TV Project Pitch Exchange, a free-to-join production development program, we connect filmmakers with regional contacts who provide solutions to script-specific needs. We also coordinate in-person locations tours with experienced scouts for more in-depth discovery and inspiration.
Our comprehensive Crew Database is a one-stop resource for hiring established Northern artists and technicians with years of working on sets of all shapes and sizes. Additionally, our MAPPED program provides funding and support toward the hiring and training of emerging crew members.
We have contributed to the successes of some of Canada’s best loved TV series, including New Metric Media’s side-splitting LETTERKENNY and SHORESY, and CBC sensations SKYMED and ESSEX COUNTY, as well as features films IN A VIOLENT NATURE by Chris Nash, Megan Park’s MY OLD ASS, Molly McGlynn’s FITTING IN, and Jacqueline Castel’s MY ANIMAL.
CION continues to help producers find their Northern advantage. Consultations: cionorth.ca/film-tv/film-project-consultations
