Information
The coral atoll of Turneffe, an internationally recognised ecosystem, lies off the coast of Belize and is home to hundreds of species of animals and fish. Two Americans discovered the atoll 30 years ago and established a holiday complex that has since become a well-known five-star resort.
Sustainable tourism is extremely important to the operators. After many years, during which the resort was powered exclusively by diesel generators, a solar energy installation combined with a TESVOLT storage system is now in place. The difference is impressive: the sun now provides 80% of the energy required and the consumption of diesel fuel has been reduced by 75%.
