Extended: Anionic phospholipids across scales: from plasma membrane nanodomains to plant development
Thursday, August 8, 2024 5:05 AM to 5:25 AM · 20 min. (US/Hawaii)
Information
Membrane lipids are not only building blocks of membranes; they also act as signaling relays within these biological interfaces. Membranes are incredibly dynamic with constant molecular exchanges between compartments. In addition, lipids laterally diffuse in the plane of the bilayer. Local differences in lipid diffusion generate membrane domains that can be as small as a few nanometers or up to an entire face of the cell. In this talk, I will describe the strategies that we are employing to study the localization of anionic phospholipids, describe their dynamic behavior, and test their function in development.
