(On Demand) Extended: Cell Wall signaling at nexus of plant development and defense - [BROADCAST]
Virtual
Information
Cell wall signaling is a crucial aspect of plant biology that serves as a nexus for both plant development and defense. The plant cell wall is a dynamic structure primarily composed of complex carbohydrates, including cellulose, hemicellulose, pectin, and glycoproteins. It acts as a barrier against pathogens and environmental stresses while also playing a crucial role in shaping the plant's cell architecture and facilitating communication within the plant cell. The cell wall signaling serves as a central hub where plant development and defense intersect. The plant's ability to perceive and respond to pathogens and environmental stresses, along with its capacity for growth and development, relies heavily on the complex interplay of molecules and signaling pathways associated with the cell wall. Understanding and manipulating these processes is of great interest in agriculture for the development of disease-resistant crops and the optimization of plant growth. In this session we aim to cover the most recent and exciting findings in cell wall biosynthesis, remodeling and role of cell wall signaling in plant response to biotic and abiotic stresses.
