Information
Modern plant biology research often focuses on asking and answering mechanistic and fundamental questions about how plants evolve, develop and function. Yet the application of this knowledge towards meaningful impact in agriculture, climate change adaptation and global societal change has been limited. In this talk, I will discuss the paradigm shift required to translate data -> insight -> solutions -> impact. Examples of research programs that address real-world problems will be shared. The audience is challenged to consider how their own areas of plant biology investigation may be relevant to some of the worlds biggest challenges (the "so what?" question).
