Information

In spite of remarkable progress, many questions remain concerning the structure and biosynthesis of cellulose---a major component of biofuels. Delmer emerges from years in retirement to reexamine puzzling findings from past studies with new eyes, leading her to pose new questions such as: 1) What are the consequences of the anti-parallel movement of pairs of cellulose synthesizing complexes (CSCs)? 2) What is in the globules that may fill the donut holes of rosettes? 3) Is regulation of [Ca2+cyt] levels a key control point for cellulose synthesis? 4) Can rapid changes in redox state and/or ΔΦ explain the lability of CSCs?
