Date: 8AM - 6PM (Saturday, 9th March, 2024)
Thien An is where a lot of picnics, sports training, scouting, camping, walking, dating of so many families, couples, student associations, students, groups of friends happened in Hue, However, in April 2004, the entertainment center of Thuy Tien lake came into operation, marking a new phase of this place. Until now, the entertạning park has been abandoned, and Thien An hill area also faces unpredictable changes. In particular, in the near future, a new transition is also being established in Thien An, which evokes expanded questions about a place considered a natural heritage. It intrigued us for these following questions: “When a public space is privatized, what values are lost?” This also leads through a series of concepts or metaphors about urban breakdown and relationships: between people and nature, people with people. “Since when has nature become a source of commercialization? Is it a manifestation of power decentralization?”.
The entire meeting as a way to relook at Thien An's place through reflection in the past, present, and future. This is also an opportunity for participants to think on how a place has changed and what they can do to propose a sustainable and less invasive vision for an important site like Thien An hill. All trip documentation, including useful maps, will be collected, and one essay will be created to summarize the story of Thien An. (if we get the permission from our guests)
