Measuring Emotional Changes During a Washing Process with Perfumed Fabric Softeners

The sense of smell has a significant impact on feelings and mood. Most customers are known to experience a relevant positive emotional impact as a result of washing and cleaning clothes. The emotional effects of using a perfumed fabric softener during the preparation, damp, and dry washing stages will be covered in detail in this presentation. Wavemotion is Iberchem’s neuroscience-based program which makes use of a multitude of scientific equipment such as electroencephalography, electrocardiography, among others. These are used for quantifying various types of fragrance-related consumer experiences, particularly the ones with an emotional outcome. During this presentation, we will examine the various stages of a washing process to understand the variance of the emotional outcomes. This would give new insights about the emotional effects at each stage and how one may model it to ensure the consumers have the most satisfying emotional experience.
