RWE / Sofia Offshore Wind Farm

RWE Renewables is the world number two in offshore wind. At 1.4GW Sofia Offshore Wind Farm is the largest offshore wind project in RWE Renewable's current development portfolio. With construction due to begin in early 2021, Sofia heralds a new era for offshore wind, further from shore, bigger turbines and more innovative technologies. 

For over 120 years, RWE has stood for a reliable, affordable supply of electricity and has been actively shaping the future of energy. RWE Renewables is the newest subsidiary of the RWE Group. With around 3,500 employees, the company has onshore and offshore wind farms, photovoltaic plants and battery storage facilities with a combined capacity of approximately 9 gigawatts. RWE Renewables is driving the expansion of renewable energy in more than 15 countries on four continents.  In the UK, as well as Sofia, RWE Renewables has nine operational wind farms, Triton Knoll currently under construction and four projects in early development.
