Clients experience how the stigma of addiction and mental illness can be overcome through compassionate and cooperative care provided by our community and staff.

SFRC offers short-term residential treatment programs for both men and women and children. Our short-term residential program is SFRC’s only gender-specific program. 

Women and Children’s Residential Program


Santa Fe Recovery Center is a treatment center that offers detox, residential, and outpatient services for people who want to stop using drugs and alcohol.  

  • SFRC’s Women and Children’s 90-Day Residential Treatment Program serves adult women with Substance Use Disorders. The purpose of this program is to increase access to comprehensive prevention, treatment, and recovery services for low-income pregnant and women and their children (0-3 years)*, in New Mexico.
     
  • Program Information:

    Based on client’s needs, legal, or clinical and medical recommendations, a mother may be eligible to stay up to 90 days.
     
  • Postpartum women (the period after childbirth up to 12 months), who do not have their child at the facility, may be eligible to stay up to 90 days if clinically and medically recommended.  Mothers deliver at local hospital of their choice. Women who give birth while in treatment, can return with their infant to finish the program. Based on mother’s ability to care for her children, no more than 2 children per mother at a time. Each mother is accessed in treatment to determine need.
     
  • Residential facility is gender specific, rooms are designated for mothers with children, along with a purpose built Family Support Center with onsite outdoor playground.
     
  • Provide age appropriate childcare Monday through Friday to enable mothers to participate their treatment.
     
  • Provide activities that are specific for mothers to develop bonds and parenting skills conducted by staff certified in Circle of Security.
     
  • Follow-up at 6-months with mothers to track progress and needs.

    Program Services provided include:
     
  • Prenatal medical care by La Familia Medical Center and others medical providers 
  •  Individual and group counseling using evidence- based therapies 
  • Substance use education classes
     
  •  12-Step recovery support
     
  •  Family therapy
     
  •  Trauma informed care and grief and loss counseling
     
  •  Medication Assisted Treatment (Suboxone, Subutex)
     
  •  Expressive therapies including art and creative writing
     
  •  Infant mental health services provided by Las Cumbres
     
  •  Child development classes and parenting education including Adverse Childhood Experiences prevention and treatment
