Software-Defined Storage for Cloud High Availability
Information
High Availability allows a cloud infrastructure to continue functioning, even when certain components or hardware elements fail. For companies operating critical services, HA is a key aspect of their Business Continuity strategies. Among other features, HA cloud systems must seamlessly and automatically route network traffic through storage and processing clusters such that performance is well maintained and, if there is a failure, users and applications experience little or no downtime.
LINBIT’s SDS solution is able to create HA storage clusters leveraging DRBD (a distributed replicated storage system for the Linux platform), running on built-in drives and being typically used in combination with OpenNebula to build a hyper-converged cloud infrastructure. This session will cover its main features, and will also offer a comprehensive insight about how DE-CIX—the world's leading Internet Exchange operator—is leveraging LINBIT’s open source technology as the cloud storage solution for their OpenNebula environment.
