The Open banking Implementation Entity - trading as Open banking Ltd (OBL) - was
set up by the CMA in 2016 to deliver open banking. We are governed by the CMA
and funded by the UK’s nine largest banks and building societies (the CMA9)
Our role is to develop API specifications, data standards and industry guidelines that grow the ecosystem of open banking providers. We do this by providing support and
guidance to grow the ecosystem, enrolling account providers and third party
providers in the open banking Directory and Dispute Management System.
