Holders of extraordinary know-how, which crosses several artisanal areas, from wheat straw, hats, embroidery with straw, fish scales, dragon tree leaf, among others, they are considered symbols of an unrivaled ethnographic and cultural heritage.
Thanks to their persistence, dedication and a lot of creativity, Alzira and Conceição Neves have kept the tradition alive, through the Regional School of Crafts of Santo Amaro, which they founded in 1986, on the island of Pico. They have represented the Handicrafts of the Azores in the biggest national and international fairs and they are today a reference and a contribution for boosting tourism on the island.
From the creative hands of these masters emerge inspiring pieces that combine
innovation, respect for traditional and for the environment, but above all, they tell stories.
