Job overview Practice Development Nurse- Band 8a As an expert practitioner, and source of expert advice to offenders, carers and colleagues, to provide a practice nursing lead and consultancy in developing nursing practice within Oxleas prison services on behalf of the forensic and prison services directorate. To take the lead role in maximising the contribution that nursing makes to focusing on five main areas; Expert evidence based nursing practice Nursing leadership and consultancy Education and research Practice and service development – including supervision Professional advisory function including continuous professional development The post holder will exercise a high degree of personal and professional autonomy, have an ability to reach complex and critical judgements and have decision making skills to satisfy the expectations and demands of the job. The post holder will provide advanced clinical nursing interventions for offenders. They will provide robust clinical leadership to the nursing team. The post holder is expected to take an active role in clinical nursing education across the prison services. They would also ensure that services are offender-focussed and reflect the NHS modernisation agenda. Teaching and coaching of staff both formally and informally Participates as an active expert in respect of clinical practice in nursing Has a direct clinical input/caseload as a routine part of their workload Undertakes research in specialist area Ensures the development and maintenance of clinical excellence in respect of forensic nursing care

£48,526 - £54,619 pa inc.
