Bristol Eye Hospital is one of the country's leading specialist hospitals with an international reputation for the treatment of eye conditions and highly respected as a pioneer in research, education and clinical practice.
The hospital has been in the forefront of development in ophthalmology including the use of extended role nurses, innovative schemes for the long-term management of glaucoma patients, day case cataract surgery and numerous other fields. The hospital also houses one of only two corneal transplant banks in England.
We are recruiting a Band 5 staff nurse for our busy ophthalmic in-patient department.
Working as part of our friendly professional team you will be providing the highest standards of care for all our patients. You should have good basic nursing skills and knowledge for this role. Prior experience in ophthalmic nursing would be an advantage but is not essential as you will be offered comprehensive ophthalmic training. This includes a well-supported and respected Ophthalmic Nursing course.
This is busy in-patient ward environment offering a 24/7 service providing care to adult of all ages. This will include patients having elective ophthalmic surgery requiring general and local anaesthetic as well as patients requiring emergency admission for medical or surgical treatment.
There is a paediatric bay adjacent to the ward, which is staffed by the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.
Salary
£27,055 - £32,934 pa pro rata
