Rotational Developmental Programme
Mental Health Nursing
Information
Are you looking for a Band 5-6 development role that isn’t available anywhere else? Would you like to work in our extraordinary Mental Health service to build a brighter and better future where you belong? If so, perhaps you would like to take part in a new rotational programme across our inpatient and PICU services?
This unique role will enable talented nurses to obtain the experience required to progress their career from a band 5 to a band 6 during an 18 month programme of development, and will offer an opportunity to offer career defining training and challenges. This will take place at Antelope House, across male and female adult acute wards and male and female Psychiatric Intensive Care Wards (PICU) which offer exposure to very distinctive and rewarding environments, where you will be part of a close knit team that looks at the ‘bigger picture’ to stop the spiral of mental health within adults. There will also be the opportunity to spend up to four weeks with our Acute Mental Health Team who provide hospital at home treatment and are the gatekeepers of admission to inpatient services or the Patient flow team who work across inpatient and community mental health teams to ensure that patients receive the right care at the right time. In patient teams are Multidisciplinary and the Model of care is trauma informed and supports recovery principles.
We have designed this rotational programme to enable you to work in each inpatient setting for a period of 6 months, and our Psychiatric Intensive Care Units for 3 months each. This will provide you with a programme of specially designed training, support and development to increase your clinical skills, and provide you with the practical skills and experience to function at a band 6 level. After successfully completing, you will be offered a substantive band 6 post in one of the areas you have worked in.
