Haunted Healing is the concept of a 25-minute animated social VR experience that sets out to blend music, art and storytelling, where six audience members explores the five stages of grief. The story concerns a young 13-year-old girl named Fay, who is mourning the loss of her father and struggling to understand her emotions and the grieving process.
Besides an overall linear story, the experience includes four nonlinear interactive scenes each representing a different stage of grief: anger, bargaining, denial and depression. Through this journey the audiences get to explore the different grieving stages at their own pace for a predetermined amount of time, before the final scene unfolds for all simultaneously. This symbolizes that grieving stages are experienced differently by each individual with no particular order. The fifth stage of grief, acceptance, is introduced as part of the linear storyline, towards the end.
