Information

BABEL is a « dance-umentary », a documentary you can dance to. Conceived as an immersive and interactive audiovisual concert, it is inspired by the biblical myth of the Tower of Babel to explore Humanity in its diversity and unity. Although it is filled with hope, it questions through different interpretations the issue of having a common project and speaking the « same language ». « Humanity full of doubts seems to have lost sight of its common path. Faced with her own contradictions, she was able to find no other solution than a schizophrenia pushing her to the implosion, to the shattering of peoples and languages. Will they be able to overcome their selfish ambitions to find the peace necessary for their survival? » Echoing current affairs, this story deals with the difficulties of communicating despite a common goal, and the deep desire to speak the « same » language again. This troubled topicality, in which particularisms and withdrawal into oneself take precedence over living together is at the core of the topics covered in this new story of Babel.

Synopsis
The performance takes the form of a two-artist concert (a musician and a VJ) and an immersive scenography. The final live performance will consist of 6 different narrations of the same story (one recorded in each country of residence). It is then only the sum of these perspectives that gives an understanding of the story in its entirety. For each creative residency, we create a new piece (average length: 10min), recording and filming a local voice (in French but with an accent) for the narration, as well as capturing images and sounds from the country. The new piece created is then added to the pre-existing pieces for the residency concert. Once the composition of the full concert is complete (duration approx. 60min), a tour is planned, accompanied by a conceptual album-film, a booklet, and an exhibition about the story and its underlyings.
