Senior Software Engineer III

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join one of our U.S. clients, a company dedicated to making life insurance more accessible to the middle market through innovative product design, quick policy issuance, and web-enabled sales processes. This remote, backend-focused role (≈90%) will start with production support—analyzing and resolving recurring issues—before expanding to feature development, technical ownership, reducing technical debt, and modernization efforts such as migrating legacy systems to serverless AWS solutions. Day-to-day responsibilities include leading root-cause analysis and resolution for production issues, designing and maintaining backend services in Ruby (Sinatra, Padrino, Rails), .NET/C#, and Python for AWS features. You’ll contribute to modernization initiatives, optimize legacy codebases, promote CI/CD best practices, and ensure secure, compliant software development (HIPAA knowledge is a plus). Additional duties include performance tuning, incident response, and mentoring engineers to foster collaboration and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s in CS/SE or 5–8+ years of software development experience, with proven expertise in Ruby, .NET, and SQL (PostgreSQL/SQL Server). Strong knowledge of AWS (Lambda, ECS, RDS, EC2), event-driven/serverless architecture, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), and testing frameworks (RSpec, Minitest, Mocha) is required. You must be comfortable with large legacy codebases, critical incident troubleshooting, and guiding teams toward modernization strategies.
