Age-Friendly Communities: The Library Makes a Difference!

New Hampshire, like it’s neighbors to the northeast and west, typically ranks in the top ten states for oldest population. How each state is planning and responding to their aging residents is unique, but one area in common is to create age-friendly communities. This program will address the important role that libraries have in creating age-friendly communities and what libraries can do to become more responsive to their aging patrons. After the program, attendees will understand what an age-friendly community is, the library’s role, how libraries can make a difference, and the importance of creating unique partnerships. Takeaways will include an understanding of concerns for older adults, strategies in improving services for aging residents, and examples of library involvement in the greater Manchester region.
