Information
While most agree that soft skills are necessary, they can still be a big challenge in libraries. Management, customer service, outreach, and teambuilding all rely on interpersonal traits that are not always considered when libraries interview for positions, or when a staff member is promoted into a supervisory role. While many of these traits are inherent, they can also be taught and supported in a positive, proactive work environment. Participants will learn how to recognize these skills in themselves, mentor them in their staff, and integrate them into all areas of library service.
