Meet our Mobile Pop-Up Library: An Innovative Idea that Might Work for You Too!
Information
In 2022 the Scranton Library used ARPA funding provided by the CT State Library to create a new mobile library service for the convenience of our North Madison residents. This little trailer has a much smaller ongoing operational cost than a traditional bookmobile, but helps us reach many of the same goals – outreach to a part of town that can seem far from our main branch, greater accessibility and convenience for patrons, and opportunities for outreach to community members who are not currently regular library patrons.Workshop attendees will leave understanding how and why they might want to create a similar service for their community, as well as ideas for how they might customize the idea to work for their unique situations. This project was made possible by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the American Rescue Plan Act, administered by the Connecticut State Library.
