Constellation No. 4: A GPS-based Symphony

Constellation No. 4 (for mobile device and headphones)" is an interactive, non-linear musical experience that transforms listener movement into real-time changes in sound. Through a web app accessible via mobile device and headphones, participants navigate a virtual composition structured as a Venn diagram of four overlapping audio channels. As listeners move and tilt their devices, the system - using orientation and acceleration data rather than GPS - modulates volume and panning to create unique, individualised soundscapes. Built with JavaScript, P5.js, and Tone.js, the work redefines authorship by positioning the listener as co-composer, embodying the "Death of the Composer" through participatory sonic exploration.
