How do organizers evaluate whether a jazz festival has been successful? KPI for Jazz Festival in DACH countries, Hangzhou and Taipei
Information
To better understand the success of jazz festivals, this study analyses the performance indicators of organizers of the jazz festivals. In addition to existing literature, understanding the intrinsic value of a festival to society contributes to our knowledge of those performance indicators: where venues and festivals vie for the same artists and audience. Based on experts' in-depth interviews of the organizers of jazz festivals, a qualitative content analysis was conducted to extract three key performance indicators (KPIs) for jazz festivals. Within this research of all performance indicators, a significant difference emerged between jazz festivals in DACH countries, Hangzhou, and Taipei, from an organizer's perspective. This study adds a more generic insight in KPIs for organizing jazz festivals to the existing literature, and a clear comparison between performance indicators of the organizers in DACH, Hangzhou and Taipei.
