Behind the scenes: How rehearsal spaces for the independent scene are developed
Information
❗❗Please be aware that the organizer is hosting presentations at two different locations as part of the Delegates BusTour:
- Lehrter Straße 60 (Gerichtsgebäude) from 12:00 to 12:30.
- Wilhelmsaue from 14:15 to 14:45.
Artists need affordable rehearsal spaces to be able to work and rehearse. The Workspace Programme of the State of Berlin offers subsidised workspaces such as rehearsal spaces for professional, independent artists residing in Berlin. How are these spaces developed, what use models are there to choose from, and who can apply for these spaces? This tour will offer a look behind the scenes of a few of these spaces and delegates will be able to learn more about the processes behind the development of such spaces up until the moment these spaces are available for use. Delegates will also learn about the new short-term rehearsal spaces while visiting one such space.
Lehrter Straße 61 (Gerichtsgebäude): This former courthouse is being developed for artistic use, which includes art studios and rehearsal spaces. The building is currently under construction.
Wilhelmsaue: This space is the very first “Kultur Räume Studio”. With Kultur Räume Studios, we are creating new spaces for artistic production. This concept allows professional artists living in Berlin to book spaces by the hour, day or week for rehearsals and artistic productions. The 300m² large rehearsal space Wilhelmsaue is available at no cost (incl. equipment) until the end of 2023.
