Project Pitch
Maëva Chicken Farm (MCF) is implementing a large-scale expansion of its vertically integrated poultry platform in Mozambique, aiming to strengthen domestic supply and reduce import dependency. The project will double production capacity across key segments, including processed chicken (9 to 18 million birds/year), feed production (150,000 to 300,000 tons/year), and table eggs (110 to 220 million/year). It includes the construction of 18 automated poultry houses, a new feed mill, hatchery and abattoir. MCF operates a fully integrated model covering feed production, breeding, hatchery, broilers, processing and distribution, ensuring quality control, biosecurity and cost efficiency. The company also runs a contract farming scheme, integrating over 200 smallholders into its value chain. The expansion will be implemented across existing sites in Maputo and Gaza, with geographic scaling to Zambezia and Cabo Delgado, leveraging local maize and soy supply. With Mozambique importing over 50% of poultry products and 100% of fertile eggs, the project addresses a critical market gap. It is expected to deliver strong financial returns (c.26% gross margin, positive EBITDA from year 2) and generate significant economic impact through job creation, local sourcing and improved food security.
