Project Pitch
The Scaling Up African Connectivity initiative aims to expand broadband access in underserved and rural regions of Africa through satellite-based connectivity infrastructure combined with digital service platforms. The project supports critical sectors such as tele-education, telemedicine, environmental monitoring (including fire detection), and smart agriculture, enabling communities with limited terrestrial infrastructure to access essential digital services. Implemented across several African sub-regions and supported by international cooperation partners, the initiative seeks to accelerate digital inclusion, strengthen public services, and foster socio-economic development by deploying scalable connectivity solutions and associated digital applications.
Team
The project is delivered through a strategic partnership combining international satellite expertise and strong local implementation capacity. HISPASAT, a leading global satellite operator, provides the core space and connectivity infrastructure, while Afamba leads the deployment and operation of satellite ground infrastructure and connectivity projects across Africa. Ologa Sistemas Informáticos contributes local technical expertise and project implementation support in Mozambique. The initiative is developed in close coordination with INCM (Instituto Nacional das Comunicações de Moçambique), ensuring regulatory alignment and national ownership. Together, the team brings proven experience in delivering scalable connectivity and digital service solutions in underserved regions.
