Entry Title
Aberdeen Communities Together
Entry Description
Aberdeen City Council is transforming to better meet the needs of those it serves in the face of reducing budgets, growing demand and changed customer needs. The transformation, driven by the adoption of a new Target Operating Model in 2017, is embracing new ways of working across the organisation – from back office processes to frontline service delivery – to build the council of the future and an organisation radically different to any that has served the city before. Partnership working is a central strand of ambitious plans to create a more efficient Council working in tandem with more engaged communities and that approach has been demonstrated in the creation of Aberdeen Communities Together (ACT).

This award is open to a single council or where appropriate a partnership of councils, or a council-owned company. Private sector partners can enter on a council’s behalf, with the permission of the council itself.
Many councils are seeking to establish a new relationship with local people and local communities. Community involvement and engagement is increasingly important as a way of shaping council thinking, contributing to service design and improvement and to responding to continuing resource pressures. It may also involve direct community involvement in service delivery. This award is intended to showcase the whole range of community involvement.
