Hydroacoustics is the study of sound under water. Underwater sound waves can come from a variety of human activities and travel long distances, leading to increased noise pollution and a negative impact on the ecosystem. These sound waves can travel such long distances because water is much denser than air, which requires a different modeling approach compared to aeroacoustics simulations.

This presentation will cover how Ansys Fluent can be used to accurately model the sound generation and propagation of a marine propeller using the Ffowcs Williams-Hawkings (FW-H) model to compute and analyze sound pressure levels (SPLs) at a variety of receiver locations.
