Data scientist / ML engineer

Our ML- and data engineers are embedded in the working environment of our customers in a full time or half-time regime, collaborating on challenging projects in life science. You will contribute to devising solutions in mining, engineering and modeling of scientific data, pipeline development and implementation, information visualization and data learning. Scientific data engineering, machine learning, software development and computational analysis of biological data are familiar to you. You play an important role in functioning as the point of contact to our network of academic specialists, following up on professional and personal development. Job requirements: - Master degree or PhD in computational biology, biological data science, bioinformatics or equivalent - 3+ years experience, either academic or industry - Experience in data mining and engineering of biological data and ML is required - Work experience in analytics / machine learning is required - Basic knowledge of biology is required - Proficiency in at least one programming language is required (e.g. Python, R, …) - Experience working with clinical data is a plus (patient diagnostics, clinical trials,...) - Software development skills are a plus - Willing and able to learn and implement new technologies - Knowledge or background in life-sciences is considered an advantage - Fluent in English, with good communication skills - Willing to travel when the need arise (depending on project) - Location: preferably Ghent – Belgium, but this is not a must
