Enhancing access to restorative justice through a yearly operating grant for the EFRJ for 2024
The European Forum for Restorative Justice (EFRJ, established in 2000 in Belgium) is the leading network on the field of restorative justice (RJ) in Europe. It connects a diverse group of members (>450 practitioners, trainers, scholars, policy makers). Its mission is to support the development of high quality RJ practices in Europe. The EFRJ promotes research, policy and practice development so that every person in Europe may have access to high quality RJ services, at any time and in any case.
Objectives for 2024:
A. Manage the EFRJ as a sustainable leading organisation of RJ in Europe
B. Promote access to justice by developing evidence-based, high quality RJ practices
C. Promote access to RJ by policy development and advocacy
D. Raise awareness of professionals and the wider public about RJ
Activities:
The management includes enabling the development and implementation of operational strategies; financial, internal and membership administration; HR; and the organisation of operational meetings (staff, Board, Executive Committee, working groups and committees, Annual General Meeting).
The EFRJ organises mutual learning events; an international conference; trainings; awareness campaigns and disseminates information on RJ to professionals aiming at developing high quality RJ services across Europe.
To engage with key stakeholders it coordinates the European RJ Policy Network; engages in EU policy work; cooperates with partners within the Criminal Justice Platform Europe; contributes to professional events and conferences and builds partnership with other European NGOs.
Expected results:
- More victims and offenders have access to good quality RJ practices
- Wider professional and public awareness on RJ and on the EFRJ
- Advanced implementation of the EU Victims' Directive
- Well-attended mutual learning events
- New resource materials and training on RJ
- Stronger engagement in national and EU public policy
