The demonstration shows an augmented helicopter rescue operation with drones and automated vehicles. State of the art technology enables helicopter, drones and ground vehicles to directly communicate with each other. This increases safety and efficiency. Serious accidents often require a rescue helicopter. In order for the helicopter to land, traffic needs to halt and the airspace to be cleared of conflicting aircrafts like drones. Emergency staff have to cordon off an appropriate area. This costs valuable time. The direct communication interface connecting helicopter, drones and ground vehicles can reliably establish such a safe and exclusive landing zone – without the help of ground staff. The concept requires only a low number of highly automated ground vehicles for communication to block the complete road traffic.
