Samarco

Samarco is a Brazilian mining company whose operations begin at the inland Germano mining and concentration complex and extend to the coastal Ubu site, where pelletizing and export activities are located. The two sites are connected by slurry pipelines running approximately 400 kilometers, enabling integrated logistics. At Ubu, the company operates pelletizing plants and a deep water port, producing high grade iron ore pellets, for direct reduction (DR) and blast furnace (BF). In 2025, Samarco became the third largest exporter of iron ore pellets in the transoceanic market, producing over 15 million tonnes. The company currently operates at about 60% of its capacity and is investing to reach full capacity by 2028.
