Pays de la Loire Region

Pays de la Loire region is hosting the world"s first production site of renewable green hydrogen using wind power on an industrial scale!
With 3.8 million people, Pays de la Loire is one of the most dynamic regions in France economically and demographically. With a resolutely industrial and innovative profile, the region exercises leadership in several  industry sectors such as aerospace, shipbuilding, renewable energies (offshore wind), mobilities, biosciences, agriculture and food transformation. The vitality of new technologies in the region such as advanced materials, biotechnology, software and electronics, reinforces the positioning of Pays de la Loire as a favorite place for the development of clean energies and productions of tomorrow. 

The ambition of Pays de la Loire region is to create a “Pays de Loire Hydrogen Valley” by 2030, to make the region a pioneer in terms of production and use of renewable hydrogen. Also, to create a sector of excellence based on its maritime, river, aerospace and motor racing industrial assets like the 24 Hours of Le Mans Hydrogen race demonstrator in 2024 and the Airbus Hydrogen Development Center.

The objectives include making the use of hydrogen accessible to everyone from 2030, making the Grand Port Maritime Nantes-Saint-Nazaire the first major hydrogen port in the Atlantic, and strengthening the influence of “Pays de la Loire Hydrogen Valley” nationally and internationally. 

The Region will mobilize 100 million euros by 2030 to accomplish this goal.
