Information
Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer. It affects us all, and it devastates lives.
Its cruelty overwhelms those living with it. Its scale overwhelms the NHS, social care and the economy. Its complexity poses overwhelming challenges in how we research, diagnose and treat it.
At Alzheimer’s Society, we know the steps it will take to create a future where dementia no longer devastates lives.
We’re leading the way by giving vital support to those who need it; influencing systems to improve care and support; campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be; and funding groundbreaking research.
Dementia is the UK’s biggest health and social care crisis: around one million people currently have dementia, and this number is expected to rise to 1.4 million by 2040.
Only by working together can we understand all aspects of this chronic disease and utilise system changes to deliver the transformational impact that is required.
It will take a society to beat dementia. Alzheimer’s Society.
